Sufficient number of examples and details that relate to the topic. Has short, choppy sentences that bump the reader. Reflects the type of writing being shared inform, entertain, persuade. Below Expectation: General or common words are used. Acceptable arrangement of examples; transitions may be weak.

Proficient Has 3 supporting sentences that explain the topic sentence. Style Appropriate tone, distinctive voice; pleasing variety in sentence structure; Vivid diction, precise word choices. Contains some sentences that vary in beginning, structure and length. Reflects the type of writing being shared inform, entertain, persuade. Fails Criteria: Simple words with a minimal vocabulary are used. Attempt at including a concluding message.
