The 5 Whys Technique The 5 Whys technique is a more in-depth problem-solving tool. This avoids wasting time on material that will be discarded, or on having to repeat the step.
Signs that you may have a bottleneck include: Long wait times. If you increase the capacity of the bottleneck machine, the capacity of the entire production line increases.
Flow Charts Flow charts present each step within a process in an easy-to-follow diagram. An increase in the output of a machine that is not a bottleneck has little effect on the overall production, because the bottleneck limits throughput.
There are ways to work around them when planning the production environment. The machine that uses the highest percentage of its capacity is the bottleneck.
It also allows for the full advantage of the time available to be taken as pockets of time can be found to keep the machine running for as many hours as possible in a week.
